Regenerating a vacant site
The site - located on Fountain Street - was previously developed but has been vacant for over a decade and surrounded by hoarding, which is a poor use of land in this prominent location and creates an unattractive entrance to the town centre.
Swale Borough Council has identified this land as a key location for redevelopment. It is located in an accessible location in the heart of Sittingbourne, situated between the western gateway, railway station, and the high street.
The new development will create a welcoming entrance to the town centre and help to make the station area feel better, more vibrant and more appealing.
What is being proposed?
115 new, high quality homes
Providing much-needed housing for Sittingbourne as the town continues to grow.
A well-designed building
In an architectural style that fits in with the surrounding area.
Green spaces
This will include new landscaping to improve the look of the area.
Sustainable development
The homes will be energy-efficient and there are plans to boost biodiversity including planting new trees.
Contributing to the transformation of Sittingbourne
The new development will deliver substantial inward investment to the local economy of Sittingbourne. It is located close to a wide range of shops, restaurants, leisure and recreational activities, healthcare facilities, schools and local amenities – all within a five or ten-minute walk or cycle. The bus hub is a short walk to the east of the site providing easy access to the town centre.
This vibrant new development will increase footfall in the town centre and support local businesses and the town’s economy.
